April Contest -- Synopsis Slam

Crafting a 300-word synopsis can be every bit as challenging as writing a query letter, and quite possibly may drive you into a chocolate or donut frenzy.

My dear writers, GET THIS! You must learn to write a synopsis. 90% of agents request it be submitted along with your manuscript.

PRIZE:
The best-written 300 words (or less) synopsis wins a one-hour consultation ($75 value) with me, on the sales document of their choice: query, synopsis, first page, or book proposal.

HOW TO ENTER:
Query Slam submission dates are April 13th to April 16. Any submissions received before April 13th or after April 16 will be discarded. Cut and paste (do not send as an attachment) your 300-word synopsis inside an email and, during the submission time period, send it to The Synopsis Contest

Need some help? Basic information about synopsis content and structure are in the Synopsis Lab Classroom. Read the winning entries and honorable mentions for the past two contests. CLICK HERE.

Don't you just love contests? Especially when they offer a prize?
Every month, the winner of the Online Academy's monthly contest will receive a one-hour revision consultation ($75 value) with The Publishing Wizard (that would be moi). The winner can work on the marketing document of their choice: query, synopsis, first page and/or book proposal.

TUTORIAL / WORKBOOK
Learn how to write your query-letter first paragraph--the "sales pitch."
Information and writing exercises in this 32-page tutorial can help you craft a first paragraph that will motivate the agent to keep on reading.
Often, the query-letter first paragraph is the only one read by the agent before they make a read-or-reject  decision. That's a compelling reason to learn how to write one that works.
