Manuscript Context Evaluation~
Do you feel stuck with your manuscript revision? You recognize that it needs something, but you're not quite sure what or how to revise. Perhaps you've received suggestions from a beta group, your critique group members, or a so-called "editor." Nothing has helped. You're still stuck. Stop struggling through revision and tap into my 35+ years experience in story telling and film (screenplay development) and as a TIME-LIFE and acquisitions editor. It doesn't matter if your manuscript is completed, partially written, or in rough draft form. And, it won't max out your credit card. A context evaluation of your evaluation can help you determine the following:
ONE: I'll read your first ten pages to determine the time involved in evaluating your entire manuscript. In some situations, my fees may be lower than those listed below, depending on the maturity of the story and the skill level of the writer. TWO: After we're clarified our agreement and payment has been made (through Paypal), email me the agreed-upon number of pages. THREE: I prefer to use Microsoft "Word Tracking" to make comments and suggestions directly on your manuscript. However, if you're not familiar with Word Tracking, I'll make comments and highlight them so you can review them easily. BONUS: I also scrutinize your first five (5) pages to identify writing mechanic issues that appear consistently in your first pages and probably throughout your entire manuscript. FOUR: After you've read my evaluation comments, we'll schedule a 30-minute consultation to discuss any questions you may have regarding your story or how to proceed. This one-on-one discussion must take place within two weeks (14 days) after you receive your evaluated manuscript. Context Evaluation Fees~
Do you write non-fiction?
If you need assistance with a non-fiction manuscript, or any aspect of the book proposal (a process quite different from the query and synopsis for fiction), contact me.

. . . from Emile
When I first read through my manuscript with Molli's critiques and suggestions about how to correct plot problems and writing mechanic errors, I felt a bit overwhelmed. However, once I began to revise, page by page, chapter by chapter, I found the process to be enlightening. Her manuscript evaluation program has become a writing course I will never forget. Molli lives up to her reputation with a talent for mixing “tough love” evaluation with tension-releasing wit. I'm now a devoted protégé. Update from Molli~ After Emile completed her manuscript, and attended my query/synopsis workshop, she launched her agent quest in October, 2016. Immediately, she received three (3) offers of representation. She's well on her way to needing "author" business cards. Way to go Emile! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From Bill~
After years of struggle, a 45-minute consultation with Molli Nickell revealed issues that held me back. My biggest regret is not working with her years earlier. She's that good. From Laurie~
Thanks to Molli’s approach to context editing, my manuscript has improved one thousand percent. My story is light years ahead of where it was when we started. As an added bonus, my skill level improved each and every time she evaluates my work. Thanks Molli. From best-selling author and canine trainer, "Captain" Arthur Haggerty who had signed a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster. His manuscript was badly disorganized. He was told to "re-write, or no deal." Capt'n wasn't clear about what or how to do this, and asked me to help him make his manuscript work. Which I did.
He comments: Molli, without your re-structuring assistance and editing skills, 'How to Teach Your Dog to Talk' might not have made it onto the shelves of Barnes and Noble. Your help is grrrrrr-reatly appreciated! Available at Amazon.com From Beth~
My consultation with Molli was invaluable, and just the kick in the ass I needed to prune 25,000 words from my manuscript (88,000 words down to 63,000). Molli's comments helped me summon my inner Robert B. Parker and, like a sculptor, chisel out parts that weren't really needed. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Helping you help yourself~ My goal, as a context doctor, is not to fix your manuscript, but to help you identify problems for you to revise. This matures your writing skills. And honestly, isn't that what it's all about? Becoming a more competent writer? Every writer is unique in their approach to story telling. The authors featured on my testimonial page write in every genre from humor to action/adventure to romance to picture books to who-done-its, and everything in between. Before becoming published, they all dealt with a variety of context challenges. I helped them identify what was preventing them from moving forward. They learned, revised, and opened doors into the publishing world. Shall we talk?
